What is PFP?

The Professional Fellows Program (PFP) for economic empowerment in the Middle East and North Africa is a two-way exchange program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. The program is designed to promote mutual understanding, enhance leadership and professional skills, and build lasting, sustainable partnerships between mid-level emerging leaders committed to strengthening their communities through social entrepreneurship and workforce development.

 The Professional Fellows are from Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco and Tunisia. They will embark on a 6-week experience, commencing in Washington, DC for an one-week orientation. Afterwards, the Fellows will be placed in 4 different cities. Austin, Detroit, Pittsburgh, and Washington, D.C. for their one-month Fellowship. 12 Fellows are placed at businesses, social enterprises, NGOs, incubators and government agencies in Austin for a hands-on practical fellowship experience

Why Host a Professional Fellow
Receive professional work and support (up to 40 hours per week) from a selected Professional Fellow that will assist your organization and provide expert knowledge and skills.
No out-of-pocket expense for you to host a Professional Fellows. Fellows will receive full compensation for food, housing, and stipend during her time in the United States via the U.S. Department of State. The U.S. Department of State handles all the visas, flights, and background checks.
Two-way cross-cultural experience and exposure to you, your organization, and the Professional Fellow
You and your organization will be eligible to apply for an all-expense paid 12-14 days trip to visit your Fellow at the end of the year. This application and selection process is organized through the US Department of State.
